FIX THE FULLSCREEN MODE PLEASE.

Full screen mode doesn’t work properly. Annoying Wi-Fi icons, time and battery status of iPhone won’t ever disappear and your whole reading experience is therefore very very poor. FIX IT.

Cool experience with strange errors.

The maps, images, and author’s notes are very nice. Unfortunately, I’ve already noticed several typos and weird text errors that hurt the flow of the story. I own a couple physical copies of the book that I’ve used to verify that these are, in fact, errors.

Love these Enhanced Editions

First of all, the book is fantastic. If you’re a fan fantasy novels, the show, or really good books in general, you really should read this series at some point in your life. They’re what I would say is more low fantasy, being a bit more grounded in reality, with just the right amount of magic (for lack of a better term) and mystery to really make the world special. Also, as good as the show was pre-season 7, these are so much better. The ASOIAF books are the real deal, and A Game of Thrones is a great beginning to that series. As for the Enhanced Editions, they’ve basically ruined me for physical copies. I own the paperbacks and audiobooks, I’ve read each one twice, but these editions are my favorite and are the ones I’ll always be returning to. My favorite feature is the crown icons you can touch that bring pop-ups that feature all kinds of really interesting trivia and other kinds of neat information regarding a topic you just read about. I also really appreciate the maps at the start of every chapter showing not only the location of that character but also the path that they might have recently traveled. Having a short, optional “When we were last with...” at the beginning of each chapter is a fantastic addition as well. There are a number of other features I could go on about but honestly I would just say if you’re interested in the series, just go for this EE first (it’s especially useful for first time readers), and if you’re looking to reread the series after a number of years, I’d still recommend these above other additions.

Beware of Issues

Of course I rate the book itself a 5/5, as game of thrones is truly an entirely different world that obviously took years to build, but this I book version, while plentiful in features, has issues. The main issue I run into is a split in the pages. I'll turn a page and suddenly there's a gap in the middle, with half a page on the left and half on the right. This happens far more frequently than it should, and the only way to solve it is to quit out of the book and reopen it. This glitch is the main problem, but like I said, it happens almost every time I have a reading session. Other than the glitch, the index is great, the fun facts are interesting, and the pictures are gorgeous. Beware the bug, however.

I love these enhanced editions so much! I love the ASOIAF series and when I saw the enhanced editions I HAD to have them. I love the art, the notes and explanations, maps and everything. It might take longer to read if you pause to look at everything, but it's such an amazing experience that I think is worth the effort, even if you have read the series before.

A Perfect Book, The Definitive Edition

Great story, great new format ebook. Martin’s first book is a little different from the later books (AFFC/ADWD) in Ice and Fire. Despite the page count, this book is a fairly quick read and a great story. The story moves quicker, and it’s the plot that carries this book. The later books slow down the plot, but add atmosphere and characters, allowing mood to carry those books towards more thematic, almost philosophical writing. Some will enjoy books 4&5 more for their complexity and feeling of melancholy, but A Game of Thrones is the “simplest” story in this series. It begins with a few chapters serving as the introduction to the characters. Then the plot begins with the initial conflict. A traditional three act story follows, culminating in an ending that sets ups the next entry in the series. Also this new enhanced ebook format is the perfect format for a new reader. It has lots of information via an appendix, a glossary, and maps. It explains the characters and the world and has lots of visuals. Even the occasional audio clip from the audio book.

A Game Of Thrones Enhanced Edition

I love the enhanced edition of these books I already own all the current books so far in this series in many different formats I have them in hardcover as well as audiobook on audible & ive gotta say that the enhanced edition is by far the coolest version & my favorite. All the special things you can do with the enhanced edition is what sets this version apart from all the rest. I would say that for only $8 it’s worth buying it even if you already own it in another format. I see that other people have reviewed it but nobody has actually wrote a review yet. If your still wondering if you should buy it then my suggestion would be to try out the free preview it gives you 80 pages of free reading so try that & then make your decision but I totally think it’s worth it especially if your a huge fan of game of thrones.

Great edition of the story with an annoying bug

I have bought all 5 books of this enhanced edition and I have to say the extra content is truly amazing. I cannot say enough how much I have been enjoying rereading the books along with the interesting tidbits of trivia. The maps look great too and the information in the appendix is presented in way more accessible way than in the actual books. I would rate 5 stars, if not for the annoying bug that makes the chapter titles have a white background even when the night view is turned on (using iBooks in my iPad 5th gen and iPhone 6s with iOS 11). The same problem is present in books 4 and 5, but oddly it is fixed for books 2 and 3. Could you please fix this for the rest of the books? It is making an otherwise excellent edition look a bit sloppy.

The story itself is fantastic and I'm reading through it for the second time. However, the enhanced edition keeps losing my place each time I exit the app, placing me at one specific location each time and never giving an option to return to my true location.

Love the Novel but enhancements?

I've found I've stopped clicking the links because so many of them just provide the same information you just read and therefore disrupt my reading flow for no purpose. I understand wanting to cross-reference everything but if someone is only mentioned once do we really need a link on the page where they are mentioned? And I don't find the illustrations great - a character's apppearance will be described in the text and then you see an illustration that doesn't follow the description. And I'm not interested in editorial comments about "anachronisms" that aren't really anachronisms - it's fantasy for goodness sake, I expect fantasy to have an internal logic not follow the when what where of actual medieval times. Sometimes I find the links helpful but over all I haven't found they enhance my reading experience. I won't be purchasing the other enhanced volumes. I hate giving this three stars because I love the novel itself but the enhanced edition doesn't deserve more.

Taking forever to download!

I started to download this before a flight to Ireland. After waiting an hour on a fast LTE network with full bars I had to get on my flight. After arriving in Ireland and another hour on a very fast network (no problem doing other stuff, vids, pics etc) I'm still waiting and it's only half way there. Come on people, sort your server out, this is pathetic, especially for such a popular book. I'll update my review for the book if ever finally downloads. I'm very disappointed, I was really looking forward to a good read on a long flight :(

Also for those complaining about the long download times, this is 700+ mb in size which is much larger than your typical book. This should give you a sense of all the additional content they added.

FIX THE FULLSCREEN MODE PLEASE.

Full screen mode doesn’t work properly. Annoying Wi-Fi icons, time and battery status of iPhone won’t ever disappear and your whole reading experience is therefore very very poor. FIX IT.

Cool experience with strange errors.

The maps, images, and author’s notes are very nice. Unfortunately, I’ve already noticed several typos and weird text errors that hurt the flow of the story. I own a couple physical copies of the book that I’ve used to verify that these are, in fact, errors.

Love these Enhanced Editions

First of all, the book is fantastic. If you’re a fan fantasy novels, the show, or really good books in general, you really should read this series at some point in your life. They’re what I would say is more low fantasy, being a bit more grounded in reality, with just the right amount of magic (for lack of a better term) and mystery to really make the world special. Also, as good as the show was pre-season 7, these are so much better. The ASOIAF books are the real deal, and A Game of Thrones is a great beginning to that series. As for the Enhanced Editions, they’ve basically ruined me for physical copies. I own the paperbacks and audiobooks, I’ve read each one twice, but these editions are my favorite and are the ones I’ll always be returning to. My favorite feature is the crown icons you can touch that bring pop-ups that feature all kinds of really interesting trivia and other kinds of neat information regarding a topic you just read about. I also really appreciate the maps at the start of every chapter showing not only the location of that character but also the path that they might have recently traveled. Having a short, optional “When we were last with...” at the beginning of each chapter is a fantastic addition as well. There are a number of other features I could go on about but honestly I would just say if you’re interested in the series, just go for this EE first (it’s especially useful for first time readers), and if you’re looking to reread the series after a number of years, I’d still recommend these above other additions.

Beware of Issues

Of course I rate the book itself a 5/5, as game of thrones is truly an entirely different world that obviously took years to build, but this I book version, while plentiful in features, has issues. The main issue I run into is a split in the pages. I'll turn a page and suddenly there's a gap in the middle, with half a page on the left and half on the right. This happens far more frequently than it should, and the only way to solve it is to quit out of the book and reopen it. This glitch is the main problem, but like I said, it happens almost every time I have a reading session. Other than the glitch, the index is great, the fun facts are interesting, and the pictures are gorgeous. Beware the bug, however.

I love these enhanced editions so much! I love the ASOIAF series and when I saw the enhanced editions I HAD to have them. I love the art, the notes and explanations, maps and everything. It might take longer to read if you pause to look at everything, but it's such an amazing experience that I think is worth the effort, even if you have read the series before.

A Perfect Book, The Definitive Edition

Great story, great new format ebook. Martin’s first book is a little different from the later books (AFFC/ADWD) in Ice and Fire. Despite the page count, this book is a fairly quick read and a great story. The story moves quicker, and it’s the plot that carries this book. The later books slow down the plot, but add atmosphere and characters, allowing mood to carry those books towards more thematic, almost philosophical writing. Some will enjoy books 4&5 more for their complexity and feeling of melancholy, but A Game of Thrones is the “simplest” story in this series. It begins with a few chapters serving as the introduction to the characters. Then the plot begins with the initial conflict. A traditional three act story follows, culminating in an ending that sets ups the next entry in the series. Also this new enhanced ebook format is the perfect format for a new reader. It has lots of information via an appendix, a glossary, and maps. It explains the characters and the world and has lots of visuals. Even the occasional audio clip from the audio book.

A Game Of Thrones Enhanced Edition

I love the enhanced edition of these books I already own all the current books so far in this series in many different formats I have them in hardcover as well as audiobook on audible & ive gotta say that the enhanced edition is by far the coolest version & my favorite. All the special things you can do with the enhanced edition is what sets this version apart from all the rest. I would say that for only $8 it’s worth buying it even if you already own it in another format. I see that other people have reviewed it but nobody has actually wrote a review yet. If your still wondering if you should buy it then my suggestion would be to try out the free preview it gives you 80 pages of free reading so try that & then make your decision but I totally think it’s worth it especially if your a huge fan of game of thrones.

Great edition of the story with an annoying bug

I have bought all 5 books of this enhanced edition and I have to say the extra content is truly amazing. I cannot say enough how much I have been enjoying rereading the books along with the interesting tidbits of trivia. The maps look great too and the information in the appendix is presented in way more accessible way than in the actual books. I would rate 5 stars, if not for the annoying bug that makes the chapter titles have a white background even when the night view is turned on (using iBooks in my iPad 5th gen and iPhone 6s with iOS 11). The same problem is present in books 4 and 5, but oddly it is fixed for books 2 and 3. Could you please fix this for the rest of the books? It is making an otherwise excellent edition look a bit sloppy.

The story itself is fantastic and I'm reading through it for the second time. However, the enhanced edition keeps losing my place each time I exit the app, placing me at one specific location each time and never giving an option to return to my true location.

Love the Novel but enhancements?

I've found I've stopped clicking the links because so many of them just provide the same information you just read and therefore disrupt my reading flow for no purpose. I understand wanting to cross-reference everything but if someone is only mentioned once do we really need a link on the page where they are mentioned? And I don't find the illustrations great - a character's apppearance will be described in the text and then you see an illustration that doesn't follow the description. And I'm not interested in editorial comments about "anachronisms" that aren't really anachronisms - it's fantasy for goodness sake, I expect fantasy to have an internal logic not follow the when what where of actual medieval times. Sometimes I find the links helpful but over all I haven't found they enhance my reading experience. I won't be purchasing the other enhanced volumes. I hate giving this three stars because I love the novel itself but the enhanced edition doesn't deserve more.

Taking forever to download!

I started to download this before a flight to Ireland. After waiting an hour on a fast LTE network with full bars I had to get on my flight. After arriving in Ireland and another hour on a very fast network (no problem doing other stuff, vids, pics etc) I'm still waiting and it's only half way there. Come on people, sort your server out, this is pathetic, especially for such a popular book. I'll update my review for the book if ever finally downloads. I'm very disappointed, I was really looking forward to a good read on a long flight :(

For those confused, the download is actually 760 pages. The details listed in description are incorrect. Also for those complaining about the long download times, this is 700+ mb in size which is much larger than your typical book. This should give you a sense of all the additional content they added.

Full screen mode doesn’t work properly. Annoying Wi-Fi icons, time and battery status of iPhone won’t ever disappear and your whole reading experience is therefore very very poor. FIX IT.

Cool experience with strange errors.

The maps, images, and author’s notes are very nice. Unfortunately, I’ve already noticed several typos and weird text errors that hurt the flow of the story. I own a couple physical copies of the book that I’ve used to verify that these are, in fact, errors.

Love these Enhanced Editions

First of all, the book is fantastic. If you’re a fan fantasy novels, the show, or really good books in general, you really should read this series at some point in your life. They’re what I would say is more low fantasy, being a bit more grounded in reality, with just the right amount of magic (for lack of a better term) and mystery to really make the world special. Also, as good as the show was pre-season 7, these are so much better. The ASOIAF books are the real deal, and A Game of Thrones is a great beginning to that series. As for the Enhanced Editions, they’ve basically ruined me for physical copies. I own the paperbacks and audiobooks, I’ve read each one twice, but these editions are my favorite and are the ones I’ll always be returning to. My favorite feature is the crown icons you can touch that bring pop-ups that feature all kinds of really interesting trivia and other kinds of neat information regarding a topic you just read about. I also really appreciate the maps at the start of every chapter showing not only the location of that character but also the path that they might have recently traveled. Having a short, optional “When we were last with...” at the beginning of each chapter is a fantastic addition as well. There are a number of other features I could go on about but honestly I would just say if you’re interested in the series, just go for this EE first (it’s especially useful for first time readers), and if you’re looking to reread the series after a number of years, I’d still recommend these above other additions.

Beware of Issues

Of course I rate the book itself a 5/5, as game of thrones is truly an entirely different world that obviously took years to build, but this I book version, while plentiful in features, has issues. The main issue I run into is a split in the pages. I'll turn a page and suddenly there's a gap in the middle, with half a page on the left and half on the right. This happens far more frequently than it should, and the only way to solve it is to quit out of the book and reopen it. This glitch is the main problem, but like I said, it happens almost every time I have a reading session. Other than the glitch, the index is great, the fun facts are interesting, and the pictures are gorgeous. Beware the bug, however.

I love these enhanced editions so much! I love the ASOIAF series and when I saw the enhanced editions I HAD to have them. I love the art, the notes and explanations, maps and everything. It might take longer to read if you pause to look at everything, but it's such an amazing experience that I think is worth the effort, even if you have read the series before.

A Perfect Book, The Definitive Edition

Great story, great new format ebook. Martin’s first book is a little different from the later books (AFFC/ADWD) in Ice and Fire. Despite the page count, this book is a fairly quick read and a great story. The story moves quicker, and it’s the plot that carries this book. The later books slow down the plot, but add atmosphere and characters, allowing mood to carry those books towards more thematic, almost philosophical writing. Some will enjoy books 4&5 more for their complexity and feeling of melancholy, but A Game of Thrones is the “simplest” story in this series. It begins with a few chapters serving as the introduction to the characters. Then the plot begins with the initial conflict. A traditional three act story follows, culminating in an ending that sets ups the next entry in the series. Also this new enhanced ebook format is the perfect format for a new reader. It has lots of information via an appendix, a glossary, and maps. It explains the characters and the world and has lots of visuals. Even the occasional audio clip from the audio book.

A Game Of Thrones Enhanced Edition

I love the enhanced edition of these books I already own all the current books so far in this series in many different formats I have them in hardcover as well as audiobook on audible & ive gotta say that the enhanced edition is by far the coolest version & my favorite. All the special things you can do with the enhanced edition is what sets this version apart from all the rest. I would say that for only $8 it’s worth buying it even if you already own it in another format. I see that other people have reviewed it but nobody has actually wrote a review yet. If your still wondering if you should buy it then my suggestion would be to try out the free preview it gives you 80 pages of free reading so try that & then make your decision but I totally think it’s worth it especially if your a huge fan of game of thrones.

Great edition of the story with an annoying bug

I have bought all 5 books of this enhanced edition and I have to say the extra content is truly amazing. I cannot say enough how much I have been enjoying rereading the books along with the interesting tidbits of trivia. The maps look great too and the information in the appendix is presented in way more accessible way than in the actual books. I would rate 5 stars, if not for the annoying bug that makes the chapter titles have a white background even when the night view is turned on (using iBooks in my iPad 5th gen and iPhone 6s with iOS 11). The same problem is present in books 4 and 5, but oddly it is fixed for books 2 and 3. Could you please fix this for the rest of the books? It is making an otherwise excellent edition look a bit sloppy.

Love the Novel but enhancements?

I've found I've stopped clicking the links because so many of them just provide the same information you just read and therefore disrupt my reading flow for no purpose. I understand wanting to cross-reference everything but if someone is only mentioned once do we really need a link on the page where they are mentioned? And I don't find the illustrations great - a character's apppearance will be described in the text and then you see an illustration that doesn't follow the description. And I'm not interested in editorial comments about "anachronisms" that aren't really anachronisms - it's fantasy for goodness sake, I expect fantasy to have an internal logic not follow the when what where of actual medieval times. Sometimes I find the links helpful but over all I haven't found they enhance my reading experience. I won't be purchasing the other enhanced volumes. I hate giving this three stars because I love the novel itself but the enhanced edition doesn't deserve more.

Taking forever to download!

I started to download this before a flight to Ireland. After waiting an hour on a fast LTE network with full bars I had to get on my flight. After arriving in Ireland and another hour on a very fast network (no problem doing other stuff, vids, pics etc) I'm still waiting and it's only half way there. Come on people, sort your server out, this is pathetic, especially for such a popular book. I'll update my review for the book if ever finally downloads. I'm very disappointed, I was really looking forward to a good read on a long flight :(

For those confused, the download is actually 760 pages. The details listed in description are incorrect. Also for those complaining about the long download times, this is 700+ mb in size which is much larger than your typical book. This should give you a sense of all the additional content they added.

Full screen mode doesn’t work properly. Annoying Wi-Fi icons, time and battery status of iPhone won’t ever disappear and your whole reading experience is therefore very very poor. FIX IT.

Cool experience with strange errors.

The maps, images, and author’s notes are very nice. Unfortunately, I’ve already noticed several typos and weird text errors that hurt the flow of the story. I own a couple physical copies of the book that I’ve used to verify that these are, in fact, errors.

Love these Enhanced Editions

First of all, the book is fantastic. If you’re a fan fantasy novels, the show, or really good books in general, you really should read this series at some point in your life. They’re what I would say is more low fantasy, being a bit more grounded in reality, with just the right amount of magic (for lack of a better term) and mystery to really make the world special. Also, as good as the show was pre-season 7, these are so much better. The ASOIAF books are the real deal, and A Game of Thrones is a great beginning to that series. As for the Enhanced Editions, they’ve basically ruined me for physical copies. I own the paperbacks and audiobooks, I’ve read each one twice, but these editions are my favorite and are the ones I’ll always be returning to. My favorite feature is the crown icons you can touch that bring pop-ups that feature all kinds of really interesting trivia and other kinds of neat information regarding a topic you just read about. I also really appreciate the maps at the start of every chapter showing not only the location of that character but also the path that they might have recently traveled. Having a short, optional “When we were last with...” at the beginning of each chapter is a fantastic addition as well. There are a number of other features I could go on about but honestly I would just say if you’re interested in the series, just go for this EE first (it’s especially useful for first time readers), and if you’re looking to reread the series after a number of years, I’d still recommend these above other additions.

Beware of Issues

Of course I rate the book itself a 5/5, as game of thrones is truly an entirely different world that obviously took years to build, but this I book version, while plentiful in features, has issues. The main issue I run into is a split in the pages. I'll turn a page and suddenly there's a gap in the middle, with half a page on the left and half on the right. This happens far more frequently than it should, and the only way to solve it is to quit out of the book and reopen it. This glitch is the main problem, but like I said, it happens almost every time I have a reading session. Other than the glitch, the index is great, the fun facts are interesting, and the pictures are gorgeous. Beware the bug, however.

I love these enhanced editions so much! I love the ASOIAF series and when I saw the enhanced editions I HAD to have them. I love the art, the notes and explanations, maps and everything. It might take longer to read if you pause to look at everything, but it's such an amazing experience that I think is worth the effort, even if you have read the series before.

A Perfect Book, The Definitive Edition

Great story, great new format ebook. Martin’s first book is a little different from the later books (AFFC/ADWD) in Ice and Fire. Despite the page count, this book is a fairly quick read and a great story. The story moves quicker, and it’s the plot that carries this book. The later books slow down the plot, but add atmosphere and characters, allowing mood to carry those books towards more thematic, almost philosophical writing. Some will enjoy books 4&5 more for their complexity and feeling of melancholy, but A Game of Thrones is the “simplest” story in this series. It begins with a few chapters serving as the introduction to the characters. Then the plot begins with the initial conflict. A traditional three act story follows, culminating in an ending that sets ups the next entry in the series. Also this new enhanced ebook format is the perfect format for a new reader. It has lots of information via an appendix, a glossary, and maps. It explains the characters and the world and has lots of visuals. Even the occasional audio clip from the audio book.

A Game Of Thrones Enhanced Edition

I love the enhanced edition of these books I already own all the current books so far in this series in many different formats I have them in hardcover as well as audiobook on audible & ive gotta say that the enhanced edition is by far the coolest version & my favorite. All the special things you can do with the enhanced edition is what sets this version apart from all the rest. I would say that for only $8 it’s worth buying it even if you already own it in another format. I see that other people have reviewed it but nobody has actually wrote a review yet. If your still wondering if you should buy it then my suggestion would be to try out the free preview it gives you 80 pages of free reading so try that & then make your decision but I totally think it’s worth it especially if your a huge fan of game of thrones.

Great edition of the story with an annoying bug

I have bought all 5 books of this enhanced edition and I have to say the extra content is truly amazing. I cannot say enough how much I have been enjoying rereading the books along with the interesting tidbits of trivia. The maps look great too and the information in the appendix is presented in way more accessible way than in the actual books. I would rate 5 stars, if not for the annoying bug that makes the chapter titles have a white background even when the night view is turned on (using iBooks in my iPad 5th gen and iPhone 6s with iOS 11). The same problem is present in books 4 and 5, but oddly it is fixed for books 2 and 3. Could you please fix this for the rest of the books? It is making an otherwise excellent edition look a bit sloppy.

Love the Novel but enhancements?

I've found I've stopped clicking the links because so many of them just provide the same information you just read and therefore disrupt my reading flow for no purpose. I understand wanting to cross-reference everything but if someone is only mentioned once do we really need a link on the page where they are mentioned? And I don't find the illustrations great - a character's apppearance will be described in the text and then you see an illustration that doesn't follow the description. And I'm not interested in editorial comments about "anachronisms" that aren't really anachronisms - it's fantasy for goodness sake, I expect fantasy to have an internal logic not follow the when what where of actual medieval times. Sometimes I find the links helpful but over all I haven't found they enhance my reading experience. I won't be purchasing the other enhanced volumes. I hate giving this three stars because I love the novel itself but the enhanced edition doesn't deserve more.

Taking forever to download!

I started to download this before a flight to Ireland. After waiting an hour on a fast LTE network with full bars I had to get on my flight. After arriving in Ireland and another hour on a very fast network (no problem doing other stuff, vids, pics etc) I'm still waiting and it's only half way there. Come on people, sort your server out, this is pathetic, especially for such a popular book. I'll update my review for the book if ever finally downloads. Taking forever to download!

I started to download this before a flight to Ireland. After waiting an hour on a fast LTE network with full bars I had to get on my flight. After arriving in Ireland and another hour on a very fast network (no problem doing other stuff, vids, pics etc) I'm still waiting and it's only half way there. Come on people, sort your server out, this is pathetic, especially for such a popular book. I'll update my review for the book if ever finally downloads. I'm very disappointed, I was really looking forward to a good read on a long flight :(

Also for those complaining about the long download times, this is 700+ mb in size which is much larger than your typical book. This should give you a sense of all the additional content they added.

Full screen mode doesn’t work properly. Annoying Wi-Fi icons, time and battery status of iPhone won’t ever disappear and your whole reading experience is therefore very very poor. FIX IT.

Cool experience with strange errors.

The maps, images, and author’s notes are very nice. Unfortunately, I’ve already noticed several typos and weird text errors that hurt the flow of the story. I own a couple physical copies of the book that I’ve used to verify that these are, in fact, errors.

Love these Enhanced Editions

First of all, the book is fantastic. If you’re a fan fantasy novels, the show, or really good books in general, you really should read this series at some point in your life. They’re what I would say is more low fantasy, being a bit more grounded in reality, with just the right amount of magic (for lack of a better term) and mystery to really make the world special. Also, as good as the show was pre-season 7, these are so much better. The ASOIAF books are the real deal, and A Game of Thrones is a great beginning to that series. As for the Enhanced Editions, they’ve basically ruined me for physical copies. I own the paperbacks and audiobooks, I’ve read each one twice, but these editions are my favorite and are the ones I’ll always be returning to. My favorite feature is the crown icons you can touch that bring pop-ups that feature all kinds of really interesting trivia and other kinds of neat information regarding a topic you just read about. I also really appreciate the maps at the start of every chapter showing not only the location of that character but also the path that they might have recently traveled. Having a short, optional “When we were last with...” at the beginning of each chapter is a fantastic addition as well. There are a number of other features I could go on about but honestly I would just say if you’re interested in the series, just go for this EE first (it’s especially useful for first time readers), and if you’re looking to reread the series after a number of years, I’d still recommend these above other additions.

Beware of Issues

Of course I rate the book itself a 5/5, as game of thrones is truly an entirely different world that obviously took years to build, but this I book version, while plentiful in features, has issues. The main issue I run into is a split in the pages. I'll turn a page and suddenly there's a gap in the middle, with half a page on the left and half on the right. This happens far more frequently than it should, and the only way to solve it is to quit out of the book and reopen it. This glitch is the main problem, but like I said, it happens almost every time I have a reading session. Other than the glitch, the index is great, the fun facts are interesting, and the pictures are gorgeous. Beware the bug, however.

I love these enhanced editions so much! I love the ASOIAF series and when I saw the enhanced editions I HAD to have them. I love the art, the notes and explanations, maps and everything. It might take longer to read if you pause to look at everything, but it's such an amazing experience that I think is worth the effort, even if you have read the series before.

A Perfect Book, The Definitive Edition

Great story, great new format ebook. Martin’s first book is a little different from the later books (AFFC/ADWD) in Ice and Fire. Despite the page count, this book is a fairly quick read and a great story. The story moves quicker, and it’s the plot that carries this book. The later books slow down the plot, but add atmosphere and characters, allowing mood to carry those books towards more thematic, almost philosophical writing. Some will enjoy books 4&5 more for their complexity and feeling of melancholy, but A Game of Thrones is the “simplest” story in this series. It begins with a few chapters serving as the introduction to the characters. Then the plot begins with the initial conflict. A traditional three act story follows, culminating in an ending that sets ups the next entry in the series. Also this new enhanced ebook format is the perfect format for a new reader. It has lots of information via an appendix, a glossary, and maps. It explains the characters and the world and has lots of visuals. Even the occasional audio clip from the audio book.

A Game Of Thrones Enhanced Edition

I love the enhanced edition of these books I already own all the current books so far in this series in many different formats I have them in hardcover as well as audiobook on audible & ive gotta say that the enhanced edition is by far the coolest version & my favorite. All the special things you can do with the enhanced edition is what sets this version apart from all the rest. I would say that for only $8 it’s worth buying it even if you already own it in another format. I see that other people have reviewed it but nobody has actually wrote a review yet. If your still wondering if you should buy it then my suggestion would be to try out the free preview it gives you 80 pages of free reading so try that & then make your decision but I totally think it’s worth it especially if your a huge fan of game of thrones.

Great edition of the story with an annoying bug

I have bought all 5 books of this enhanced edition and I have to say the extra content is truly amazing. I cannot say enough how much I have been enjoying rereading the books along with the interesting tidbits of trivia. The maps look great too and the information in the appendix is presented in way more accessible way than in the actual books. I would rate 5 stars, if not for the annoying bug that makes the chapter titles have a white background even when the night view is turned on (using iBooks in my iPad 5th gen and iPhone 6s with iOS 11). The same problem is present in books 4 and 5, but oddly it is fixed for books 2 and 3. Could you please fix this for the rest of the books? It is making an otherwise excellent edition look a bit sloppy.

The story itself is fantastic and I'm reading through it for the second time. However, the enhanced edition keeps losing my place each time I exit the app, placing me at one specific location each time and never giving an option to return to my true location.

Love the Novel but enhancements?

I've found I've stopped clicking the links because so many of them just provide the same information you just read and therefore disrupt my reading flow for no purpose. I understand wanting to cross-reference everything but if someone is only mentioned once do we really need a link on the page where they are mentioned? And I don't find the illustrations great - a character's apppearance will be described in the text and then you see an illustration that doesn't follow the description.
